President's Message

May already! And our membership has reached 1,582 members!

On Wednesday, April 9 we held our first ‘After Hours’ Meeting since 2020, at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. We had a great crowd and learned about Library Resources from Paul Steensland, Reference Librarian, Career Transition Specialist & Public Speaker. This was a fun evening of networking and learning! Stay tuned to our website for future events like this!

On Wednesday, April 30, we had another first (since 2020), our dinner meeting at the Clayton Plaza Hotel, with over 60 members registered! The speaker was our very own Tyler Norman, MBA, PgMP, PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, PMI-PMOCP; Director, Strategic Supply Chain Programs with Scholastic, Inc., talking about our: Personal Brand Management for Project Leaders. Again, a great evening of learning and networking! These are great events – with more to come!

We are taking a bit of a break during May; stay tuned for upcoming June events!

We will have another dynamic speaker on June 4th, Tanya Boyd, speaking on the Value of Storytelling in Project Management. Her talk: ‘Tales from the SWAMP: Navigating the Murky Waters of Project Management’ is sure to inspire each of us to look at our own PM stories, we all have them! And you won’t want to miss the ‘pre-meeting’ networking and a display of some of Tanya’s artwork! If you absolutely cannot join us in person, we will offer a virtual option for this meeting – but you will miss the networking!

AND: our first Professional Development Day for 2025 will be on June 28 at the WashU Knight Center! A great opportunity for Networking, to hear 5 incredible speakers and earn up to 5.5 PDUs! And this includes lunch! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to:

As we are always working to support our members, if you are interested in being a speaker for a chapter event, reach out to Kelly Bottini, VP Programs!

We are looking for volunteers!

We cannot hope to meet the needs of you, our members, without YOUR help. We are adding to our volunteer postings weekly, so there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer! Most of these volunteer roles are for a variable amount of time. We list some of the openings on our webpage under ‘Get Involved’. However, to apply, you must use the VEP Platform. If you are interested, I recommend making sure your VEP (Volunteer Engagement Platform) ‘Profile’ is up to date! Then, go to: ‘Find an Opportunity’, and under ‘Chapter’ select ‘Metropolitan St. Louis’. This will pull up our current openings. Select what you are interested in, fill out the application and we’ll be in touch!

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHT: 58042 Nominating Committee. We need 3-4 volunteers to help with verifying applicants for your board meet the requirements for the position! You DO NOT need to find volunteers but will be involved in the interview process to ensure we get the best candidates to run for our elected offices!

Keep checking the website: PMIMSL.org: we are constantly updating as we go forward. Rebuilding is slow, but we hope to increase information each month going forward.

We have much to offer in 2025, and we are excited to have you along for the ride!
