April 2022 Chapter Meeting (Make-up Session)
Over the past several years, organizations have said that they want to foster diversity and inclusion initiatives for their leadership pools. What is the impact of diversity and inclusion for current and future workforce needs (specifically leadership) and how does it drive success? Some organizations have spent tremendous amounts of resources to produce marketing strategies that emphasize their commitment to diversity and inclusion. After all the marketing and leadership speeches have occurred, are there any measures of success or has just another box been checked? As an HR Professional, I have had to have honest and crucial conversations with senior leaders to assess their commitment and how it looks specifically for their organization. How are gains and/or losses measured? Is true change being sought, or is this a herd mentality approach? Are specific internal strategies being created to establish effective change? Here are a few statements that I have heard in my past as an African American HR Professional.
